New Green Audi Cars in the Works

Here at Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, we know that more drivers are looking for greener cars these days. Many of our luxury brands are leading the way when it comes to building capable hybrid and electric cars, and the Audi brand in particular attracted some attention lately. It showed off a whole new range of plug-in hybrid models at this year's Geneva Auto Show.

This range of new Audi cars will be labeled “TFSI e” models. The e-tron name will continue to apply to electric vehicles, while this new moniker is designed solely for plug-in hybrids. The Audi A8 is one car getting the TFSI e treatment. It will come in just one trim level and it's equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor. Its total output will be 443 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Who said that green cars can't be fun?

Other Audi TFSI e models will come in two different variants. The plug-in hybrid versions of the Audi A6, the Audi A7, and the Audi Q5 will be available as either comfort-focused or performance-focused models. The “Comfort” versions will have an output of 295 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, while the “Performance” model will produce 363 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

All of these vehicles will offer multiple driving modes, including an Auto mode that only uses the internal combustion engine when necessary. The electric motors are also designed to recoup energy during deceleration. We can't wait to see all of these sporty green cars in action for ourselves.
